Recently we’ve received a big order from the Gia Eradze Royal Circus on both LED and mirror costumes, standard and custom-made. Completion of the whole order took us about 2 weeks. Since there were personalized custom-made orders they required new sketches and research. It was a challenging order but it was great to remember the format of our work in pre-pandemic times: personalized orders, lots of items at once, tight deadlines.
Follow the timeline of the production process.
The order came in late February and the premier of the show was planned for the middle of March. As most costumes were customized or altogether new versions of the existing costumes, we were pressed for time with creating new sketches and constructing new items in just two weeks.
The complete list consists of 17 costumes and accessories:
Smart Pixel Wings with 200 LEDs were ready in a couple of days since it’s not a custom order. We’ve made this product before and although the client needed 7 pairs of luminous cosplay angel wings, we’ve managed to produce them in 4 days and send them to the customer as soon as possible for rehearsals.
The crown was the last one to be made as it’s a new product we’ve never produced before. We needed to think about the materials and how to attach the crown to the mirror head with a mask of a ballerina. It needed to be lightweight and firmly attached to the ballerina mask for free movements on stage. The mirror crown was made of the EVA foam, covered with flexible Italian mirror, and decorated with gemstones to be more in the royal ballet style.

6 modern dance ballerina costumes were based on mirror catsuits (without the front zip) modified to get the cosmic look. So the base was close to the existing product and made in a couple of days. The headpiece looks like a punk iroquois instead of the classical silver crown. Silver mirror tutus were attached to the costume with the help of transparent beltsб so they look like levitating cosmic hoops around the ballerina body. 46 LEDs on each tutu add to the neo-modern style of the ballerina outfit.
Mirror equilibrist and juggler were new products. We’ve made two new projects of mirror costumes, one of which included the Smart pixel LED strip. Both costumes were planned to have either a silver mirror crown or a shiny mirror helmet. But the final versions of the juggler and equilibrists on the day of the premier remained without them. Probably, they’ll be used for another show.
The silver mirror juggler needed to be flexible to juggle and move on stage easily and LEDs needed to be bright enough to be seen on a large circus arena from a significant distance. We’ve attached the LED strip first. LED bulbs were placed inside acrylic mirror circles to reflect the light and look brighter.
The mirror costume of a circus equilibrist is in fact a version of a popular flexible mirror unitard suit by ETEREHOP. This costume combines silver and gold mirror tiles and goes without a mirror balaclava. For the sake of ergonomics, armpits, and other parts where our body bents most often there are no mirror tiles. Since it’s a one-piece unitard, a performer can be sure that nothing will unzip or unfasten in the middle of the show.
The premier show took place in the middle of March and was a huge success.
